Dear Armand,

I’ve read that face wipes aren’t good for you, is this true? If so, what can I use as an alternative that’s quick and easy?

Karen, Barnsley

Dear Karen,

Thanks for the question.

It’s true...face wipes are not ideal as an efficient makeup remover plus there are ingredients in them which can be harsh on the skin. However, I understand that these days, we are all time poor, so let me give you some tips!

Inika Organic Micellar Water is really effective at removing face and eye makeup. Micellar Water has an unusual composition which attracts dirt to it and lifts it off the skin, Inika have taken this principle and created a certified organic version.

Get a small Tupperware box and good quality cotton pads. Soak the centre of pads with some of the Micellar Water and seal them in the box - and hey presto: skin friendly face wipes!!!

Another option for you, is to try Skn-rg award winning Flash Balm Makeup Remover. Apply with your hands and remove with damp cotton pads. This product also has antibacterial and hydrating benefits so that you can even use this as a nighttime moisturiser too.

Let us know how you get on

Kind regards

Holly Willoughby in Ted Baker

Celebrity Style

Holly's blonde hair means she always looks amazing in light colours (well, actually, lets face it- she looks amazing in anything!)

This stunning white Ted Baker dress with bold floral detail looks perfect on Holly and the 1/2 length sleeves and mid-length body makes this dress perfect for the office and for those spontaneous after work drinks.

Sandersons style

if you're looking to achieve this look, why not try the Ted Baker Evrley Highgrove body-con dress. A stunning close alternative to the one pictured on Holly, with a little more exciting detail. We particularly love the birds as it makes the standard body-con dress that little bit more quirky!

Abbey Clancy in Freddy Jeans

Model, TV Presenter and Footballer's Wife Abbey Clancy LOVES her Freddy Jeans! Freddy's look amazing on everyone as they hug you in all the right places. Freddy's are perfect for those active ladies who are always on the go, but still want to look glamorous.

Our favourite Freddy's are the WR.UP patented technology pants which:

Dear Armand

I’m going on holiday later this month and I’m lost as to what sun care to buy? Should I go for an SPF50 and how often should I reapply? We have very pale skin, and I always look pasty plus I can get prickly heat! I want something that’s great for the family as we have a 4 year old and it’s her first holiday abroad. But I also want to have some sort of tan. Hope you can help.

Gemma, Glossop

Hi Gemma

Thanks for the question. It’s so important to get the right sun care as not all skincare is good for the skin or the environment. Plus you need to cover a broad spectrum (protects from UVA = ageing rays & UVB = burning rays) sunscreen.

Did you know that 25% of sun cream can be washed off during a 20 minute dip in the sea? This can also have a detrimental effect to sea life if the sun care contains hormone disrupting ingredients like oxybenzone , homosalate and parabens!

Try the award winning, broad spectrum, environmentally friendly Green People sun care range, available at Sandersons . It doesn’t contain silicone's and mineral oils, which can close the pores and can be a cause of ‘prickly heat’! The sun care is available in SPF30 as well as the 15. As you have fair skin , Gemma, go for the 30 and apply liberally 20 minutes prior to sun exposure then reapply every hour. The only difference between a factor 30 and a factor 50 is 1% so I think that it’s more important to reapply frequently, say every 1-2hours.

Green People also support the Marine Conservation Society with every purchase plus they also have Organic Children sunscreen broad spectrum factor 30, so perfect for your 4yr old. But of course it’s important to try and keep little ones out of intense sunshine. It’s also a good idea for you and your family to wear a hat and keep well hydrated. If you want to have a spot of colour before you go away, then why not invest in Lusso Tan (again, available from the Beauty Lounge in store) to give you a glow...before you go!

Enjoy your holidays!
